Skinny Pantry

Motivation. A key component to losing weight! A few years ago, I eliminated everything white from the pantry; flours, pastas, rice. Really, anything that said enriched or bleached I threw out. I discovered well into my adult years that, much like white symbolizes purity, white flour has been stripped of everything that is "difficult" for the body to digest and absorb because it is seen as "bad" for you. The down side to this? Your body responds to white flour like it does to processed sugar. In short, this mean it goes straight to your fat cells. My carbohydrates now come from stone cut whole wheat products, such as brown rice, bulgur and quinoa and vegetables.

Everyone has a very individualized metabolism and everyone should know the difference between simple and complex carbs. Check back frequently as I will be uploading various foods nutrition facts to keep you motivated to stay away from all of those over processed and "enriched" sugars.
